From tech upgrades to redesigned exteriors, Kelley Blue Book's Micah Muzio highlights some of the big unveilings of 2018 North American International Auto Show

DETROIT, Jan. 17, 2018 - Now in its 30th year, the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) serves as the global stage for companies to debut brand-defining vehicles and industry-shaping. This year, the 2018 North American International Auto Show runs from January 13-28th at the Cobo Center in Detroit. NAIAS is unmatched in the industry in presenting six unique shows in one, including: The Gallery, an ultra-luxury automotive event, AutoMobili-D, an inside look at future mobility platforms, Press Preview, Industry Preview, Charity Preview and then concluding with a nine-day Public Show. Take a look at some of the hottest cars coming out of this year's show!

Hot Unveilings: Massive things are brewing at Hyundai.  The all-new 2019 Veloster and Veloster Turbo. The Veloster retains its unique two-plus-one door asymmetrical body style configuration. It has available 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque and standard multi-link rear suspension for agile dynamics. It also boasts a generous cutting-edge infotainment and connectivity features.  They're also unveiling the first U.S. Market N-brand performance model. The Veloster N model demonstrates performance potential for Hyundai N-brand in the U.S. and its N model integrated body design details clearly differentiate from Veloster line. It's loaded with electronically-controlled suspension with track-tuned driving modes and 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with up to 271 horsepower and 279 lb.-ft. of torque.

A Redesigned Best-Seller: The RDX Prototype is a strong indication of the design direction Acura is taking with its new five-passenger luxury SUV that will launch in mid-2018. The styling is based on the Precision Concept the automaker debuted in Detroit a year ago. Under the hood is a new 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine that  will be among the most powerful in its class, with a 40 percent gain in low-end torque. Inside, it has a more premium look and feel than ever before, trimmed in real aluminum, real wood and ultra-high-grade Nappa leather as well as an ultra-wide new panoramic moonroof. The vehicle also showcases Acura's new TrueTouchpad interface which combines a 20-inch, high-mounted display screen with a curved touchpad in the center console.  A new 'natural language' voice recognition engine makes voice commands easier and more natural than ever before and in back, a programmable power cargo hatch with hands-free operation and a nicely finished extra storage compartment under the cargo floor. 

Also included is the full suite of AcuraWatch™ safety and driver-assistive technologies as standard equipment on all grades.

New to North America: GS8 is a strategic star product launched by GAC Motor. It is expected to be their first model to be sold in the North American market. The GS8 is a large luxury seven-seat SUV with a hard outside and soft inside design philosophy which provides consumers with new visual delights and driving experience. The interior space comes equipped with the latest generation smart connected entertainment system. Its additional wireless charging, smart voice control, and many other user-friendly features make your mobile lifestyle more valuable and sense of quality. Its third-row seats can be made 180° completely flat to form an oversized storage space together with the trunk, thus meeting a family's diverse needs during travel. The GS8 also comes loaded with smart four-wheel drive and all-terrain feedback system, making it switchable freely among class-leading six driving modes (Sand / Mud / Snow / Smart / Sports / Economy). The design focuses on both maneuverability and off-road performance.
